The city of Porto is now going under construction for the New Ruby line, marked H. the new line of the Porto Metro, eighth in number, will include eight new stations, two on the Porto side (a new Casa da Música one and another on Campo Alegre), and six on the Vila Nova de Gaia side (Arrábida, Candal, Rotunda, Devesas, Soares dos Reis and a new interface in Santo Ovídio). Three will be above ground (Arrábida, Candal and Rotunda) and the others will be underground.
The Ruby (H) journey starts at the extended Casa da Música Station, which, in turn, also guarantees connection to the Blue A line, Red B line, Green C line, Violet line, Orange F line and future Pink G line. From there, the Metro makes its way in a tunnel to the Campo Alegre area, next to the Architecture, Science and Literature faculties and where a new e-Learning Café will be installed for students at the University of Porto. This Café was designed by the 2011 Pritzker Architecture Prize winner architect, Eduardo Souto Moura. After that the metro heads towards the surface, crossing the new Ferreirinha Bridge, which will be one of the few communication routes in Portugal that are not intended for cars, as it will be reserved only for pedestrians, bicycles and the metro, ensuring connection to the neighbouring city of Vila Nova de Gaia and where there will be highly relevant intermodal connections, such as communication with the northern CP train line, in Devesas. The journey ends one kilometre further south, in Santo Ovídio, where a new interface will be built, parallel to the current station serving the Yellow Line (D), connecting to the future Lisbon-Porto-Vigo (Spain) high-speed train line. The journey on that line will take approximately 16 to 20 minutes.
It is the company’s commitment that the work on the Rubi Line (H) of the Porto Metro ends at the end of 2026, and we promise to keep a close look.
